Doomsday averted
but just in case...
Last Friday, the Feds bailed out our CTA mass transit system ... for now. They gave us $27 million; only enough funding to get us through 31 December. But with oil at $96 a barrel, gasoline topping $3 a gallon, parking fees and CTA fares likely to rise, The Chicagoland Bicycle Federation has brought out a Doomsday Survival Guide for Chicago commuters. And if there's no more money on 1 January, it's offering some individual help too. Commuters can e-mail their bus or train routes to CBF at transit@biketraffic.org so they figure out alternatives ... without driving!
