Pedal your city

Mexico City's
corridors of unmotorised movement

Our Bike Mayor here in the City of Big Shoulders now has some competition from south of the border. Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard has ordered his municipal officials to leave their cars behind and cycle to work once a month. Proposing the program last year, Ebrard was first to bike commute from his home south of the city to his office in the central Zocalo. The municipal government is also distributing a guidebook on urban cycling. It included security-related details like what to wear and how to get spotted by motorists.
